Year 6

Welcome to our Year 6 page where we invite you to explore the exciting things that we are working on this term.
This term our topic is 'Heroes - of the Victorian and Edwardian era'. We are starting off with a focus on the Antarctic explorers Scott and Shackleton - with our writing and Art linked to their adventures!
The Year 6 parent booklet (below) will give more details on the subjects we will be studying throughout the term.

'Heroes - of the Victorian and Edwardian era'

This term we will be answering the enquiry question, 'How did significant individuals contribute to Britain during the Victorian and Edwardian era?' This deliberately broad question will allow us to look at explorers,  inventors, suffragettes and other notable people who contributed to life and to change in Britain.

Support at home

Please remember to have at least 5 reads signed each week - reading records to be taken in on a Friday.
Homework (Maths and Spellings) will be given out on a Thursday, and expected back in on the following Tuesday, with the spelling and times tables tests on the Wednesday.

Please also find the Year 6 statutory spellings list and the Year 6 times tables sheets below.

Thank you as always for your support in helping your child to succeed in these areas each week. We hope that practising good homework habits now will help with the transition to secondary school homework next year.

In Year 6 we will also celebrate reading with the sharing of our favourite class books.
This term we will be reading 'Street Child', which links well to our topic, by giving an idea of life during the Victorian era.
