Parent Forum - Spring 2020
Have a look at the booklet to find out more about what we are learning this term.
Dinosaurs!
This half term, we are learning all about Dinosaurs.

We opened our topic box and found lots of exciting objects. We thought of some things that we would like to do and find out during this topic.

We are really interested in what dinosaurs used to eat. Can you remember what the words carnivore, herbivore and omnivore mean?

You can find out more about dinosaurs by clicking on the link to the website below, which we have used to research information about dinosaurs in our Computing lessons.
Internet Safety Day
Tuesday 11th February 2020
We have been thinking about the different ways that we can stay safe on the internet. Lots of us use tablets at home, so we talked about how we can use the internet on tablets sensibly and safely. We listened to and discussed the book Buddy the Dog's Internet Safety Story.

We learnt that it is important to:
  • Speak to a grown-up if something pops up onto the screen that we are not sure about
  • Ask a grown-up before watching videos on the internet
  • Make sure that we know who we are talking to before sending messages online
  • Remember to be kind to others when using the internet
  • Don't download apps without asking a grown-up first.

We learnt a song about staying safe when using the internet.
Reading, Reading, Reading!
In Year 1, we love reading! We like to read as much as we possibly can. We read during our daily 'Reading Roundabout' sessions, individually to grown-ups  and also during our phonics sessions.

It is great to practise reading at home, too.  Click the link below to go to the Oxford Owl website, where you will find some great eBooks to share with your grown-ups at home. Do you recognise any of the characters in the books?
The Church
We recently visited Holy Trinity Church in St. Austell to find out more about why the Church is a special place for Christians.
We spotted lots of special features in the Church and learnt more about why they are there and how they are used. Can you remember their names?
Fruit Smoothies
We have been learning about the things we can do to stay healthy and recently made some fruit smoothies by following a set of instructions. Can you remember which ingredients we used and what we had to do?
Trailblazing!
We love Trailblazing! We go on a Friday. Here are some photographs of us learning about and enjoying our wonderful school grounds.
