This half term, we have been learning all about Winter. We have been looking closely at the story 'Snowflakes' and were really interested in the winter tree that the character Mia decorates in her village. We decided to find a tree of our own that we could decorate! We collected some sticks and added ribbons to make into decorations. We think it looks beautiful now!
As a whole school, we are putting together a recipe book. Nursery baked some healthy Raisin and Cinnamon Oat Cookies. We then tested them to see what they tasted like. They were delicious!
The children in Nursery have excitedly been preparing for Christmas. They have worked hard to decorate the classroom and have been busy making different things for their Christmas Cafe at the end of the term. They have made invitations to send to their parents and hope that they will all attend for some crafts, snacks and singing! We have also had a visit from a cheeky Elf called Sparkles who has been causing a bit of havoc in the classroom!

We have been really busy learning all about autumn. We have been making the most of our school grounds and getting out and exploring the season first hand. We have collected autumn leaves and have made hedgehogs out of them. We also made crowns made of leaves down in the woods.

On Friday 20th October, we took part in Science Day linked to 'Understanding the World' in the Early Years Foundation Stage Curriculum.  We explored two different experiments using two different story books. The first book we read was 'Smile, Crocodile, Smile' which was about a crocodile that spent all day brushing his teeth. The children then did a sorting activity, thinking about what food is good for our teeth and which are not so good. The second book was 'Snow Bears' where the bears played in the snow and then went and sat by the fire so the snow and ice melted. The children looked at blocks of ice and thought of ways that they could melt it to release the bears that were stuck in the middle. We had great fun and learnt a lot!
